Max W. Bobb


Max W. Bobb, 72, of Columbus passed from this life on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Four Seasons Health Care Center.

Mr. Bobb was born on May 30, 1947 in Seymour, Indiana the son of August and Betty Jean Burbrink Bobb. On May 19, 1984, he married Carol A. Russell.

Mr. Bobb was a graduate of Purdue University with a Masters of Science in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and Beta Sigma Psi Fraternity. Mr. Bobb was a farmer, a high school teacher, an employee of the State of Indiana, the Environmental Protection Agency, Cummins, Inc., and owned his own computer store. Mr. Bobb loved talking with and had a real connection with young adults. He always said teaching young adults was his favorite. Some of his greatest joys were spending time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling internationally and to Disney World, playing golf, watching basketball games, and was an avid Purdue fan. Mr. Bobb was a very active member of Jackson County 4-H for 14 years and won county, state and national awards in 4-H.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Carol A. Bobb of Columbus; children, Brian (Christine) Bobb of Fairfield, CA, Craig (Eri) Bobb of San Jose, CA, Emily (Christoph) Schmitt of London, England, Christy (Nathan) Smith of Henryville, IN, and Kiel (Julia) Bobb of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Alexander and Elizabeth Bobb, Mikari Bobb, Quinn Schmitt, and Lane, Winnie and Doc Smith; and one brother, David Bobb of Seymour.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Carol Kaufman.

In keeping with Mr. Bobb’s wishes cremation will take place and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Liver Foundation or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Together We Grow 2.0 through the funeral home.
