The Indiana State Department of Health Tuesday announced that 568 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and private laboratories.
That brings to 5,507 the total number of Indiana residents across 89 counties known to have the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s total.
Three counties have yet to report a case of the virus. Those are Pike, Perry and Benton counties.
Jackson County reported three new cases, bringing the total of infected residents to 40.
A total of 173 Hoosiers have died to date across 46 counties. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by ISDH and occurred over multiple days.
Marion County currently has reported the most deaths with 48. Other counties with multiple deaths include Lake (11), Madison (11), Hamilton (10), Clark (7), Franklin (7), Johnson (7), Decatur (6), Allen (6), Hendricks (5), Lawrence (5), Bartholomew (4), Howard (4), LaPorte (3), Elkhart (3), Fayette (3), Orange (2), Ripley (2), Vigo (2), Hancock (2) and Grant (2).
To date, 28,764 tests have been reported to ISDH, up from 26,192 on Monday. Residents of every county in the state have been tested.
Four more Jackson County residents were reported as tested for the virus, making the total number of residents tested 140.
According to Dr. Eric Fish, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, Schneck has tested 372 people for COVID-19. Of those tested, 72 came back positive, 199 were negative and 101 are currently pending.
Of the 72 positive cases at Schneck, 39 are residents of Jackson County and 21 are residents of nearby Jennings County. Other counties with residents who have tested positive at Schneck include Scott, Washington, Lawrence, Bartholomew and Brown counties.
Schneck’s respiratory clinic has also tested 132 people for the virus. Twenty-eight individuals have tested positive at the respiratory clinic with 50 negative test results and 54 pending.
