Plans changed for Marine’s arrival in Seymour

The community welcome for the family of U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Hunter Brown has been changed.

After 12 flight cancellations, the family is using ground transportation to get his body to Seymour, and they won’t arrive back home until the middle of the night.

Residents are asked to turn on their porch lights tonight and leave them on to honor Brown and show support as a community.

Then around 2 p.m. Wednesday, people who want to show their support can line up along North Chestnut Street between Burkholder Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Home, 419 N. Chestnut St., Seymour, and Tipton Street. That will follow the private family service at the funeral home.

The route will go from the funeral home to West Tipton Street and continue on U.S. 50 to Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Bloomington, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors.

Brown, 21, died March 17 at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

A public memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
