Staff Reports

As of today, Anchor House Family Assistance Center and Pantry in Seymour won’t be open on-site to distribute food, but food will be offered through delivery.

To be added to the food distribution list, call 812-522-9308 or text 812-216-2516. Provide name, address, phone number and if you will be home for the delivery. Food delivery will be during normal pantry hours, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays and noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays.

Beginning April 1, Anchor House will change to once-a-month distribution for food. Everyone will still receive the same amount of food as if they were coming twice a month, just distributed in one delivery per month instead of two.

Anyone interested in donating food or funds to help Anchor House serve those in need can call 812-522-9308 or or visit anchorhouseshelter.org.

The I Care Ministries Food Pantry will be open from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. Saturday at Seymour Harvest Church, 414 N. Chestnut St., Seymour.

Director Farron Dyer asks that there be only 10 people, including the staff, to be in the church at a time.

“We’ve been asked that no more than 10 people be together for everyone’s safety, and we must comply,” he said.

On March 28, however, the pantry will be closed due to staffing issues. Beyond that, Dyer said the only way the food pantry will be closed is if there is a state of emergency or the county health department asks him to close for health concerns.

Anyone who would like to make a donation to the pantry can send a message through facebook.com/seymourharvestfoodpantry or email Dyer at [email protected].

Community Provisions of Jackson County Inc., 107 W. Bruce St., Seymour, is only allowing two people in at a time. Carts will be preloaded with canned and boxed items. Meat, bread and milk also will be available. Hours of operation are 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays.
