William “Bill” Shirley Jr., 85, of Scottsburg, IN passed away at 4:08 PM on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at his home. Bill was born on October 16, 1934 in Tampico, IN, where he lived for 45 years, he was the son of William A. Shirley and Josie (Thomas) Shirley who are both deceased.

He served in the United States Army from November 12, 1957 until October 29, 1959 being honorably discharged. On November 23,1979 in Seymour, IN, he married Wilma Sue (Meeks) who survives in Scottsburg, IN. Bill retired as a machine operator from Cummins Engine Company in 1990 after working for 25 years.

He enjoyed going to the sale barn, gardening, attending auctions, working in his flower and vegetable gardens, fishing, hiking on his property in Washington Co, watching I.U. basketball and was a huge fan of Bobby Knight and most of all loved spending time with his family and going on vacation.

Survivors include, his wife of 40 years, Wilma Sue Shirley of Scottsburg, IN, a daughter, Cammy Jean Brewer of Hanover, IN, 2 grandchildren, Chasidy (Derek) Dickerson of Madison, IN, and Jesse (Cathy) Brewer of Madison, IN, 7 great grandchildren, Cameron Pimlott, Brayden Brewer, Amilia Hall, Taylor Dickerson, Darren Dickerson, Micheal McClure and Daisy Dickerson, former son in law, Jerry Brewer, 7 stepchildren, Mike Kelly, Jeff Kelly, John McDonald, Tammy Hall, Danny McDonald, Angie Lyons, and T.W. Isom, 11 step grandchildren, Rachel McDonald, Lauren McDonald, Josiah McDonald, Levi Spaulding, Keri Needler, Jessie McDonald, Doc McDonald, Katie Wicker, Danny McDonald, Johnny McDonald, and Joe Isom. He was also preceded in death by 8 siblings, Rawland “Pod” Shirley, Roland “Shird” Shirley, Raymond “Bud” Shirley, Bobby Shirley, Louise “Sis’ Reynolds, Laverne “Tick” Henry, Maggie Shirley, and Loraine “Ween” Berry.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Scottsburg, with burial and Military Honors to follow at Scottsburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. before the service on Thursday at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Scottsburg.
