Phyllis Sue Sherrill, age 85, of Norman, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020, at her residence.

Phyllis was a member of Norman Christian Church. She retired from RCA in 1997 after thirty years of service. Phyllis loved traveling to spend time with her children and grandchildren. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, she loved living and being outdoors on her farm. Phyllis was a terrific cook, an avid gardener and loved playing cards with her friends.

Born on May 10, 1934, she was the daughter of Royd “Carty” and Joyce Hall Fleetwood, both of whom preceded her in death. On March 21, 1953, in Heltonville, she married Ralph Sherrill and they enjoyed 58 years together before he preceded her in death on September 25, 2011.

Survivors include three daughters: Peggy Rein of Brownstown, Patti (Carl) Weaver of Fort Wayne, and Jamie Sherrill of Pacific Palisades, California; eight grandchildren: Brandon Zumhingst, Ryan Weaver, Ashley Borsage, Jake Rein, Jagger Wrobel, Madly Wrobel, Goldie Wrobel, and Carla Weaver (Schuessler); and five great-grandchildren: Cash Zumhingst, Brady Parrish, Bennett Bosarge, and Jack and Nathan Schuessler.

Phyllis was also preceded in death by a brother, Caroll “Poobie” Fleetwood.

A funeral service for Phyllis Sue Sherrill will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2020, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with burial to follow at Kurtz Cemetery.

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, a Celebration of Life for all to attend will be held at a later date. As this is an unfortunate situation, it is the family’s hope that all understand this necessity.
