Brownstown and Medora students will have access to food while schools are closed because of coronavirus concerns.

In Brownstown, food assistance is available for those who live in town. Email all of the information except the bus number to [email protected], and someone will deliver the food or provide a convenient point for pickup. For those who live outside the school corporation boundaries but attend Brownstown schools, someone will deliver food.

Also, Brownstown Central Fellowship of Christian Athletes is accepting food donations for Brownstown students. Acceptable items include juice box packs, bread, peanut butter and jelly, small macaroni and cheese packs, individually wrapped peanut butter or cheese cracker packs, fruit snacks, applesauce and pudding packs, Pop-Tarts and boxes of cereal.

Donations may be dropped off from 7 to 10 a.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the high school cafeteria dock behind the school by the baseball field. Donations also will be accepted at the same times March 23, 25 and 30 and April 1.

Place the items outside the door, and a volunteer will take them inside. Bus drivers will deliver the food on bus routes.

On Monday, Brownstown United Methodist Church announced it’s conducting a food and fund drive to help the FCA’s effort. Donations can be brought to the church, 110 N. Poplar St., Brownstown, or a check can be mailed noting the food drive and they will do the shopping for you. The church’s office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.

During eLearning this week and March 30 through April 3, Medora Community Schools will serve student lunches to-go between 11 a.m. and noon each day at the school, 82 S. George St., Medora. Administration also will be available during that time to help students download lessons.

Students who live along a bus route in Carr Township may call and order lunch to be delivered this week and March 30 through April 3. To order a lunch, call 812-966-2201 between 8 and 9:30 a.m.
