Mr. Dillard “Pickle” Wischmeier, 71, of Seymour, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born in Seymour to the late Elmer and Dolores (Buhner) Wischmeier.

Funeral services will be conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service at St. John’s Lutheran Church Sauers on Saturday, March 14 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Craig Muhlbach officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery Sauers.

Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Friday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church Sauers from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Throughout the years, Pick worked for H.O. Canfield, North Vernon Beverages and Cummins, but was best known as the long time owner/operator of Poplar Street Tavern. He first owned Poplar Street from 1980 to 1993 and in 2016 he resumed owning the local restaurant. He enjoyed visiting with his patrons and considered them family.

Pick was also an avid sports fan with his favorites being IU, Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds. He loved to make trips to see the Cincinnati Reds with many friends. He also played for many slow pitch softball teams in his younger years. In his spare time, he liked to go antiquing and to auctions. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church Sauers. He was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, Eagles and Knights of Columbus Men’s Club.

He is survived by his sisters, Doris (John) Nash, Paula (Brian) Hunterman, Priscilla Wischmeier; nieces and nephews, Jeremy (Marisa) Nash, Suzanne (Rob) Brown, Sarah (Joe) Hunterman-Glassmeyer, Emily (Kevin) Begley, Ben Hunterman as well as 8 great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and longtime companion, Elizabeth Becker.

Memorials may be written to St. John’s Lutheran Church or St. John’s Sauers School Renovation Fund, in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
