Mrs. Vicki Diane Hukill Sommer, Let Us Pause To Honor Her Memory.

Mrs. Vicki Diane Hukill Sommer, age 67, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on April 30, 1952 in North Vernon, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Marlin “Bud” Hukill and Patricia Ann Cassidy Hukill Vondielingen.

She was raised in North Vernon until her junior year of high school when the family moved to Seymour. Vicki was first united in marriage to John Robbins and this union of five years was blessed with two sons, William and Ryan. She worked early in life for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus and for her brother Bill at Right-Way Express. She later enrolled in Ivy Tech Community College where sheattained her Medical Assistance Certificate and QMA Certificate. She was united in marriage to Robert C. Sommer and they began their home together in Madison. This happy union of 45 years was blessed with a son, Robby, and a daughter, Angela. Vicki had worked earlier in life for Dave’s Shurway in the Deli Department. She last worked at the Madison State Hospital as a psychiatric attendant until the death of Robby.

Vicki was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church and Coffee Creek Conservation Club where she enjoyed playing bingo. Vicki loved tending to her flower gardens, sitting on her porch swing, watching the birds, and watching criminal justice shows. Vicki died on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at 7:55 a.m. at the Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky with her loving husband at her side.

A LOVING FAMILY

Vicki will be missed by her loving husband of 45 years, Robert C.”Bob” Sommer of Madison, Indiana; her loving daughter, Angela P. “Angie” Sommer and her companion, Thomas Rowlett of Madison, Indiana; her loving son, William “Will” W. Robbins and his wife, Mary Rogers of LaGrange, Kentucky; her daughter-in-law, Terri Southerland Robbins of Columbus, Indiana; her grandchildren, Brady McDole, Hallee Hamilton, Wyatt Hamilton, Sophia Grace Robbins, Kassie Jackson Robbins, and Kassie Jackson Robbins; her great-grandson, William Michael McDole, Maddy, and Aly; her brother, William Hukill of Seymour, Indiana; her niece, Krista; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ramona Wild and her husband Steve of Phoenix, Arizona, Sandra Smallwood and her husband David of Louisville, Kentucky, Mary Brown and her husband David of Madison, Indiana, Susan Anderson of Lexington, Indiana, John Sommer and his wife Elaine of Clover, South Carolina, Donald Sommer of Milton, Kentucky, Rose Furnish of Madison, Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by herfather, Martin “Bud” Hukill, her mother, Patricia Ann Cassidy Hukill Vondielingen, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond Joseph Sommer and Margaret Thinnes Sommer, her sons, Robby Jacob Sommer, died March 17, 1995 and Ryan John Robbins, died November 8, 2012, her step-father, Leo Vondielingen and her great grandson; her brother in law, Charles Anderson.

FUNERAL CEREMONY

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, March 1, 2020, 2:00 p.m., at the Faith Lutheran Church, 3024 North Michigan Road in Madison, Indiana, by Pastor Jeff Pflug. Interment will follow in the Vernon Cemetery, 315 Pike Street in Vernon, Indiana.

VISITATION

Friends may call Saturday from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive Madison, Indiana and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church, 3024 North Michigan Road in Madison, Indiana.
