Olga Jean Sitarski, 89, of Brownstown, Indiana passed away at home peacefully on February 18, 2020. She was born June 2, 1930 in Lackawanna, New York to Edward and Helen Gorecki Pluta. On October 16,1948, at Visitation Church in Buffalo, New York, she married Edward Sitarski, and he preceded her in death on November 14, 1990.

Olga is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Edward Henry Pluta and Theodore Alexander Pluta, and grandson, Edward “Eddie” Paul Sitarski Dodds.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her three sisters: Regine Pluta of Florida, Victoria Pluta of Florida, Dolores Pluta of NY: her four sons; David Sitarski (Patricia) of Taylors, SC; Robert Sitarski (Katrina) of Evansville, IN; Gerald P.Sitarski (Mary) of Grand Island, NY, and Edward W. Sitarski of Brownstown, Indiana, one daughter; Cheryl Sitarski Dodds of Victoria, TX: four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Olga was a longstanding active member of St. Agatha Catholic Church, Buffalo NY until she relocated to southern Indiana, she has been associated with St. Ambrose Catholic Church after her move here.

Olga retired as a US Postal Clerk with the Williams Street, NY Post Office Branch in 1983 after more than 10 years of service. Her additional work history in New York State include worker at Catalino Farms, Sales Associate at Sattlers Dept. Store, Sewing Instructor at Singer, Pack and Ship Clerk for F.P. Pla Tool and Die, an Elevator Operator at AM&A’s, and Laundress at Cadet Dry Cleaning.

Olga retired to the southern Indiana area and resided with her sons. She loved gardening, traveling, crocheting, and cooking. She was a member of the “friends of the Jackson County library”.

Visitation for Olga will be at Burkholder Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, 419 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour, IN on Tuesday February 25, 2020 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The memorial service will follow at 5 p.m. Deacon Mike East from St. Ambrose Catholic Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Olga’s memory to the Jackson County Public Library Memorial Tree at Burkholder Chapel.
