BROWNSTOWN

Doris J. Stahl, age 90, of Brownstown, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Stahl was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Brownstown, and also a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.

Doris retired as a legal secretary with the law firm of Nierman & Nierman, and she was also Jackson County Auditor and Jackson County Recorder for several years. She was a member of the Business & Professional Women’s Club, Jackson County Democrat Women’s Club, and Sauers Extension Homemaker’s Club.

Born on July 16, 1929, in Paris Crossing, she was the daughter of John and Jennie Agnoli Darin, both of whom preceded her in death. On July 25, 1954, at Central Christian Church in Seymour, she married Alvin M. Stahl and he preceded her in death on February 23, 2019.

Survivors include two daughters: Patricia “Pat” E. Stahl of Brownstown, and Carolyn Jo (Frank) Ira of Brownstown; three grandchildren: Katherine Jo (Lance) Adams, Jacqueline S. (Ryan) Olson, and Sarah E. Burke; two step-grandchildren: Robin Lemieux and David (Wendy) Ira; two great-grandchildren: Madelyn G. Adams and Bryson R. Adams; four step great-grandchildren: Jacob Ira, Lucas Ira, Max Lemieux, and Donovan Lemieux; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Darin.

Doris was also preceded in death by two brothers: Wedal Darin and Thomas Darin; and seven sisters and brothers-in-law: Francis (Stanley) Hendricks, Rosalie (Floyd) Surber, Christine (Ralph) Holesclaw, Emma (Ansel) Berry, Josephine (Robert) Jewell, Grace (Rob Roy) St. Clair, and Jennie Darin.

Funeral services for Doris J. Stahl will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2020, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Brownstown, with Pastor Jeremy Yeadon officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February, 23, 2020, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Brownstown.

Interment will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Brownstown.
