Semistate basketball tickets for sale

Tickets for Saturday’s semistate game between Brownstown Central and Salem will be on sale for $10 in the BCHS athletic office on Thursday (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and Friday (8 a.m. to noon).

Tipoff for the game is set for 1 p.m. at Jeffersonville High School.

Due to the Braves playing in semistate, Saturday night’s boys basketball game against Providence is being pushed back a half-hour to compensate. The junior varsity game will tip off at 6:30 p.m.

BC’s Schroer named top weekly player

Brownstown Central girls basketball senior Ashley Schroer was named the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association’s Player of the Week for District 3 on Tuesday.

Schroer helped lead the Braves to their fourth regional title last Saturday in 54-40 and 54-42 wins over Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter and Heritage Christian. She tallied a double-double in both games.

Greensburg topples Seymour

Greensburg jumped out to an early lead and never looked back against the Seymour Owls, winning 63-36.

Seymour got into one of its early holes, and the deficit was too large to dig out of Tuesday night.

Drew Vehslage led the Owls with 14 points and was the only player in purple in double figures. Marcus Brooks scored six, Eric McCoy tallied five, Casey Regruth and Landon Fritsch each had four, Aiden Goen netted two and Andrew Levine had one to round out the scoring.

Floyd Central flies by Brownstown Central

The host Highlanders scored 27 points in the final quarter to blow by the Brownstown Central Braves 68-34 on Tuesday night.

Down just one at the halftime break, the Braves weren’t able to keep up with the Highlanders as they were outscored 18-8 in the third quarter.

Isaiah Wineinger led the Braves with 12 points and was followed by Clay Chastain’s 10. They were the only two Braves in double figures. Eli Brown, Carson Darlage and Derek Thompson all scored three, Aiden Schroer had two and Jalen Tiemeyer had one to round out the scoring.
