Jackson County Community Theatre has announced audition information for its final production of the 2019-20 season, "Ordinary People."

Auditions will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 23 and 24 at Royal Off-the-Square Theatre, 121 W. Walnut St., Brownstown.

The show dates are at 7:30 p.m. April 24 and 25 and May 1 and 2.

In the show, Conrad Jarrett had an older brother named Buck, and now, Buck is gone. What’s left of young Conrad’s family with his successful, well-intentioned father and his beautiful, organized and remote mother is in terrible jeopardy, as is Conrad himself. They are all “ordinary people,” and each is fighting a hard battle.

This play goes to the essence of a young man, his friends and family, their relationships and survival. The film version of this book, directed by Robert Redford and starring Mary Tyler Moore, won four Academy Awards.

The cast needs are three older teen boys, two older teen girls and four adults (father, mother, psychiatrist and swim coach). For details about the roles, visit jcct.org.

Auditions will be cold readings from the script. Those auditioning should be prepared with a list of conflicts that could affect their attendance at rehearsals.

Backstage and technical help will be needed, too. Paul Angle is the director.

If you are unable to attend either of the audition dates but wish to try out, email [email protected] or call 812-358-5228 to work out a time.
