A Seymour man faces an attempted murder charge in connection with an incident this morning that left a man hospitalized.
Jesse J. Stover, 29, was arrested shortly after the incident reported about 9:25 a.m. at Circle K, 300 E. Tipton St., Seymour.
Stover is accused of slashing 64-year-old Henry Stamper with a knife in an incident outside the store.
Stamper, who lives in Seymour, was treated at the scene by personnel with Jackson County Emergency Medical Services before being taken to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour. He was later transferred to University of Louisville Hospital for further medical care, according to a news release from the Seymour Police Department.
The extent of the man’s injury and his condition are unknown at this time, police said. A knife was found at the scene.
The investigation into the attack is ongoing.
The Indiana State Police assisted with the investigation.
Stover was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 2:05 p.m. and was being held without bonding pending his initial appearance before Jackson Circuit Court Judge Richard W. Poynter.
The store was closed during the investigation but has since reopened.
