Harold Andrew Payton, 77, of Clinton, died February 8, 2020, in his residence. He was born February 20, 1942, in Clinton, to William Payton and Ruth Prulhiere Payton.

He had been a salesman all his life, starting at Horney’s. He had owned and operated his own Tru Value Hardware Store, as well selling cars at Shanks in Terre Haute. He was a US Army Veteran during Vietnam. He was a member of the former Jaycees and a member of the Roman Wheels Car Club.

Harold loved Indy Car racing, selling items, and spending time with his friend, Curt Nestler.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by one son, Clint and Jennifer Payton of Seymour, IN; one daughter, Christine Brazelton of Indianapolis; one brother, Gary and Vanessa Payton of Clinton; three sisters, Ruth Ann Alden of New Whiteland, IN, Emma Jane Kelley of Clinton, and Betty and Bob Killebrew of Clinton; two grandsons, Tyler and Tanner Payton of Seymour; a special nephew, Randy Payton of Clinton; and several other nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m., on Tuesday at Frist Funeral Home. Services will be 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Frist, with Celebrant Marta Adubato officiating.
