VALLONIA

Lloyd W. Grider, 80, of Vallonia, died at 9:47 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2020 in New Haven, IN. He was a 1957 graduate of Vallonia High School. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of the VFW, American Legion, the Moose Lodge and the Eagles. Lloyd was a member of the Vallonia Christian Church. He retired as an Engine Inspector from Cummins Engine Company after 43 years of employment.

Lloyd was born on October 31, 1939 in Medora to the late Carl & Elizabeth Taskey Grider. On December 26, 1963 in Vallonia, he married Mona Lou Toppe Grider and she preceded him in death on July 25, 2003. On November 11, 2006 in New Haven, IN, he married Peggy Nicholson Louden Grider and she survives. Other survivors include 2 daughters, Ann (Phil) Cooper & Stacey McCory both of Vallonia; 2 step sons, Tony & David Louden; grandchildren, Jessica & Carissa Likens, Brett, Zachary & Kendra McCory, Suzanne Bolte, Julie (Jason) Skaggs, Emily, Hunter & Baylee Louden; great grandchildren, Lucianna Kay Louden, Owen & Jenna Bolte, Aaron & Kate Skaggs; 2 brothers, Don (Sarah) Grider of Brownstown & Terry (Mary Lou) Grider of Vallonia; 2 sisters, Anita (Roland) Sturgeon of Salem & Sharon (Doug) Nuss of Brownstown; sister-in-law, Rosie Grider of Vallonia and a brother-in-law, Russell (Phylis) Nicholson; & numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife Mona, and a brother Sam Grider.

Funeral Services for Lloyd will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 1st, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia with Chris Criminger officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, January 31st from 3-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service at time at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Vallonia Cemetery with military graveside rites. Memorial contributions may be given to Parkview Hospice, Ft. Vallonia Days, or to the Donor’s Choice.

Lloyd enjoyed NASCAR, hunting, fishing and just piddling around, but his greatest love was attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with his family.
