SEYMOUR

Mr. Steven Mark Sterling, 70, of Seymour, passed away January 8th 2020 at his home. He was born in Seymour to the late Reginald Dean Sterling and Roseann “Granny” Waters.

Steve was a 1968 graduate of Seymour High School where he was a member of the basketball team. Steve was drafted into the Marine Corps in 1970 where over the next 2 years he was awarded a “National Defense Medal” a “Meritorious Mast” and a “Sharp Shooter Rifle Badge” his service ended Honorably in 1972. Steve returned to Seymour where he started working for the phone company and would complete 40 dedicated years as a phone technician. Steve enjoyed watching football, I.U. Basketball and the Cincinnati Reds. His favorite activities were spending time with his family, going shopping and out to dinner, spending summers going to many travel baseball games, driving around taking in the scenery and playing Candy Crush where he became the #1 player in the world (that’s some dedication!). He also enjoyed spending time with his special buddy “Swifty”, his cat whom he loved very much and taking his K9 best friend, who he adored, for country cruises and listening to country music. Steve’s great personality and funny sense of humor will be greatly missed by his family and friends. To know Steve was to love Steve, there will never be another like him!

Steve is survived by his children; Shelly Sutton (Sterling) and Paul Sterling; 8 grandchildren; brothers; Dennis (Nancy) Sterling, Mike Sterling, Erick Sterling; Sisters, Diana Shrader (Sterling), Debbie Sterling, Pamela Stammer (Sterling), Christel Sterling, step-mother Victoria Sterling, and special friend Janelle Claycamp and her family Nicole, Seth, and Justin Maki also Ruth Ann “Ruffers” Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter Erica Bowman ( Sterling).

There will be a gathering honoring his life at the American Legion Post 89, 400 W. 2nd Street, Seymour IN., Saturday Janurary 25th from 5 – 8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Red Sky Rescue.
