Girls Basketball

Cougars earn win No. 20 on senior night

Class A No. 2 Trinity Lutheran downed the Floyd Central Highlanders 47-32 to hit the 20-win threshold for the second time in three seasons.

Senior Hannah Sabotin nearly came away with a double-double finishing with 10 points and nine rebounds. She was one of three Cougar players to finish with double-digit points. Fellow senior Emma Goecker scored four.

Freshman Bailey Tabeling scored 16 to lead the Cougars and junior Sydney Jaynes supplied 12 and nine boards.

Rounding out the Seymour scoring: Kailene Cockerham scored three and Emma Schepman had two.

Shoals defeats Medora on the court

The Jug Rox defeated the Hornets on Thursday night 67-23.

Kelsey Tuner led the Hornets with 11 points while Mariah Cobb added eight. Jarey Babcock and Kaitlyn Cobb each scored two to round out the Medora scoring.

Swimming & Diving

Owls, Olympians split dual meet

The Seymour boys came away with a 94-89 victory while the girls fell 96-87 against Hoosier Hills Conference rival Columbus East.

Seymour boys earned one relay win, taking the opening 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1 minute and 50.46 seconds.

Individually Bryce Miller (100, 200 freestyles), Trevor Layne (100 breaststroke, 200 IM) and Harrison Cottrill (100 backstroke) all took home top prizes.

On the girls’ side, the Owls won the final relay of the meet, the 400 freestyle relay, in a time of 4:05.59.

Maren McClure (100 breaststroke, 200 IM) was the only individual event winner.
