The Brownstown Park Board has a new president.

During an organizational meeting earlier this month, Brian Wheeler was chosen as president of the five-member board.

He joined the board in July 2019 when the Brownstown Town Council appointed him to fill one of its seats on the Brownstown Central Community School Corp. board of trustees. He replaced Mary Ann Spray, who had been president of the school board and served on the park board.

The previous president of the park board was Richard "Dick" Burrell, who wrapped up 21 years of service at the end of 2019.

Two new park board members were assigned positions. Paula Workman is vice president, and Rachel Johnson is secretary. The previous secretary, Linda Saucerman, also wrapped up her service in December, finishing with 13 years.

Other members of the park board are C.J. Foster and Kevin Hanner.

The next park board meeting is set for 7 p.m. March 3 in the park shelter house, 715 W. Bridge St., Brownstown. It’s open to the public and press. There will be an executive session, closed to the public and press, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss personnel.
