Martha Carole Satterly, 75, passed away on January 2, 2020. She died peacefully in her sleep at her home. She is the wife/widow of Steve Satterly Sr. who preceded her a year ago, December 17, 2018. They were married on December 26, 1961 and shared almost 57 years of life together.

Born on April 29, 1944 in Seymour, Indiana, she was the daughter of Ralph Roland Green and Florence Chasteen.

She graduated with highest distinction at the Associate, Bachelor and Master’s level from the Indiana University School of Nursing. Certified by the American Nurses Association in Nursing Administration, she spent most of her professional life contributing in that field.

She was honored for her professional achievements by the American Heart Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society and the Indiana University School of Nursing. She has contributed to her profession through her research, her help in the development and implementation of two surgical units and is a published author, which led to her being named to Who’s Who in American Nursing in the ’86 and ’88 publications.

She is survived by her three children, Shelly Aspenson, Stephen Satterly Jr. and his wife Robin, and Tom Satterly and his wife Jen.

She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Jarod and wife Emily Aspenson, Jessica and husband Christian Sanchez-Silva, Thomas Satterly, Carole Satterly, Luke and Claudia Halski, as well as her great-grandchildren Roman and Stephen Sanchez-Silva.

The memorial service will be held at Nativity Catholic Church in the Parish Center, 7225 Southeastern Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana on January 25, 2020. The celebration of her life will be from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. with the memorial service directly following from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
