The Jackson County Public Library offers Paws to Read featuring George, a gentle standard poodle who likes hugs, and his furry friends at the library, 303 W. Second St., Seymour.

The free 30-minute program was created with struggling readers in mind to help build confidence and increase fluency when reading aloud.

The program for children in kindergarten through fifth grade is at 5 p.m. Jan. 16 and 30 and Feb. 13 and 27
