MEDORA

Denver L. Collins, age 78, of Medora, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour.

Mr. Collins retired from Golden Castings in Columbus after 36 years of employment.

Denver was a simple man who lead a simple life. He loved to hunt, fish and camp. His greatest joys in life were his family, watching Cincinnati Reds baseball, listening to Bluegrass music, and reading Westerns. He might not have been considered rich in material items, but he was abundantly wealthy in love of his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was born on June 30, 1941, in Lee County, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his father, Puttie Wilder; mother, Eva Bell Collins; step-mother, Georgia McGinnis Wilder; and step-father, Crodell Collins. On July 24, 1960, he married Wanda Baughman, and she survives in Medora. They were married for 59 years.

Survivors also include one son: Denver L. “Bo” Collins, Jr. of Medora; three daughters: Sandra K. Collins of Medora, Carol D. Stanley of Medora, and Angela (Roger) Davers of Vallonia; two brothers: Roland (Marilyn) Collins of Lexington, and Larry (Velma) Wilder of Michigan; one sister: Helen Stewart of Seymour; eight grandchildren: Leslie (Scot) Green, Samantha Goss, Clayton Davers, Hayley (Johnathon) Davers, Tyler (Nikki) Davers, David Goss, Mary Goss, and Marissa Stanley; eight great-grandchildren: Jackson Goss, Corey Wagner, Chloe Wagner, Gabriel Davers, Michael Davers, Everett Davers, Nikolai Goss, and L’Oreal Coleman; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters: Betty Collins and Annette Stine; son-in-law: Rick Stanley; and great-granddaughter: Kiralee Davers.

Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown.
