Ms. Donna Bensheimer, 60, of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Norton Hospital in Louisville. She was born in Franklin to Charles “Wayne” Bensheimer and Dorothy J. Inabnitt.

Funeral services will be at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Tuesday, December 17 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Aaron Arrowood officiating. Burial will follow at Ninevah Cemetery.

Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 12 p.m. until time of service.

Donna had worked as a corrections officer for Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and as office manager at Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center. Her proudest accomplishment was being a foster parent to more than 59 children throughout the years. She was an excellent mother and tried to fill that role to as many children as possible. She was always willing to help anyone that she could.

Donna is survived by her children, Tawana (William) Brewer, Jerel Richards, Michael Hargis, Allen Dean; grandchildren, Alisha Haas, Tyler Hargis, Zachary Brewer, Brendan Hargis, Kaitlyn Richards, Collin Richards, Oliver Taylor; great-grandchildren, Elijah and Luna Hargis; brothers, Rick Edmonds, David Edmonds, Gary Bensheimer; sisters, Joyce Edmonds, Karen Mercer, Bev Wilson, Janet Acton, Sarah Lawson as well as her life partner, Charles “Buddy” Lain.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
