A 29-year-old Brownstown man died from injuries he sustained in a two-vehicle wreck, police said.

Robert Weddell was extricated from his vehicle by emergency personnel and transported by ambulance to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, where he was pronounced dead, according to a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.

At 6:51 a.m. Wednesday, officers with the sheriff’s department and Brownstown Police Department and personnel with Jackson County Emergency Medical Services and the Brownstown Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 3500 block of West U.S. 50.

Dispatch notified them of a personal injury wreck with entrapment in one of the vehicles.

Once on scene, it was discovered a Rumpke truck driven by Dylan Barnett, 25, of Brownstown had struck a Dodge Ram pickup driven by Weddell in the passenger-side door, police said.

The vehicles were on the south side of the roadway with Barnett’s facing southeast and Weddell’s facing southwest, police said.

Evidence at the scene suggests Barnett was traveling east and Weddell was traveling west. Weddell was turning left into County Materials Inc. when he was struck by Barnett, police said. Weddell was entrapped in his truck and had to be extricated.

The investigation is ongoing, and toxicology reports are pending, police said.
