Area volleyball players earn more honors

The IHSVCA released their all-state teams for all four classes on Tuesday and multiple players from Jackson County were honored.

In Class 3A, Brownstown Central’s Kendra McCory, Riley Nuss and Reagan Nuss all earned first team all-state honors while Keeli Darlage made second team all-state.

In Class A, Trinity Lutheran’s Kennedy Hoffman, Bailey Reynolds and Hannah Sabotin were all named to the first team, and Sydney Jaynes earned second team honors.

Tigers notch first win of the year

Crothersville bounced back from their season opening loss with a 60-41 win over Clarksville. 

The Tigers used a 21-point first quarter to jump on the Generals and never looked back as they went on to score double-digit points in each period going forward. 

Addy Cole led the Tigers with 26 points and Makayla Helt also scored in double digits with 10. Cole also pulled down 15 rebounds for her first double-double of the year and Rebekah Cook hauled in 11 boards.

Helt had a team-high eight assists.

Crothersville is back on the road on Friday against Orleans. They return home for a Southern Conference tilt with Borden next Tuesday.
