Police investigate theft from local bakery

Seymour police have arrested a man they believe stole money from a local bakery shop Wednesday

Andre Blevans was arrested at Second and Poplar streets at 3:43 p.m., Officer Bart Bevers said.

He has since been booked into the Jackson County Jail.


Seymour police are investigating a theft that took place today at a local bakery shop.

Video surveillance shows two people who entered Raquel’s Bakery, 228 S. Chestnut St., Seymour, around noon and took money from a tip jar. Police estimate the total to be around $15.

The suspects asked the sales clerk for a room-temperature soda before taking the money while the employee went to the back of the store.

The two then exited the building on foot.

Officer Bart Bevers is investigating the incident and said he has received a few names, but the department does not have a suspect.
