Special Olympics Indiana Jackson County will have a callout meeting for basketball and powerlifting at 7 p.m. Thursday at Girls Inc. of Jackson County, 956 N. O’Brien St., Seymour.

Children and adults with intellectual disabilities ages 8 and up may participate in Special Olympics. Anyone interested in doing either sport may attend the meeting.

Basketball will have three-on-three, five-on-five and unified teams and also a skills competition. This will be the second season in a row for that sport, while powerlifting is new.

Before participating in any Special Olympics activity, athletes and volunteers must turn in all of the forms required by Special Olympics Indiana. Athletes must fill out an application for participation and a medical form, and volunteers must be a Class A volunteer and complete the online training.

Forms to be an athlete or a volunteer may be obtained by emailing county coordinator Crystal Ackeret at [email protected] or downloaded online at soindiana.org and clicking on “Resources.”
