Tee times announced for girls golf state finals

Seymour High School’s Bridget Marshall will be among the first to tee off on Friday in the first round of the IHSAA girls golf state championships.

Marshall will start on the back nine at 8:30 a.m. She will be grouped with Guerin Catholic’s Angelica Pfefferkorn, North Decatur’s Sidney Parmer and Lakeland’s Madison Keil.

Cross Country

Owls place second at Batesville Invite

The Seymour Owls boys cross country team took second at the Batesville Invite with a team score of 53 points.

Luke Plummer led the charge for the Owls with a third-place time of 17 minutes and three seconds. He was followed closely by Michael Proffer, who came in fourth at 17:52.

Connor Harriss finished 11th at 18:29, while Brycen Baugh and Luke Hauersperger were 17th and 18th, respectively, with times of 18:50 and 18:52.

Bryce Hatton rounded out the Seymour scoring with a 59th-place finish at 23:23. 

On the girls’ side, the Owls placed fourth in the large school race with 84 points.

Kinsley Folsom finished fourth to lead the Owls at 21:43. 

She was followed by Grace Lewis in 16th (25:50), Lara Skaggs in 18th (26:43), Eliana Baker in 22nd (27:56) and Caitlin Thomasma in 23rd (28:47).

Girls Soccer

Panthers top Trinity Lutheran

In a highly-contested game, the Jennings County Panthers stole a 1-0 victory from the Cougars.

The loss comes on the heels of two big wins for the Cougars, winning by a combined 14 goals.

Borden sweeps Trinity Lutheran

Boys tennis

The Trinity Lutheran boys tennis team capped their regular season with a 5-0 loss to the Borden Braves.

Jace Crockett and Noah Voelker each fell 6-1, 6-2 at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively.

Jack VonDielingen and Cameran Grunwald battled at No. 1 doubles but lost 6-2, 6-4. The No. 2 tandem of Nathan Voelker and Luke Pollest loss 6-0, 6-0. 

The Cougars will take on the winner of Wednesday’s Scottsburg and Seymour sectional match on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Seymour High School.
