The IHSAA released the sectional pairings for the 2019 boys and girls soccer state tournament.

Both the Seymour girls and Trinity Lutheran boys will play host to a sectional in this season’s tournament while the Owl boys and Cougar girls will head south down Interstate 65 for a shot at a sectional title.

In Class 3A sectional 15 at Floyd Central, the Seymour boys soccer team drew Hoosier Hills Conference rival Columbus East in the first round. The two duked it out early last month with the Olympians coming away with a 4-0 win at the Owls’ Nest.

A win by the Owls would pit them against the winner of Jeffersonville and New Albany, two teams the Owls played very tough during the regular season.

On the girls’ side, the Owls will face Bedford North Lawrence in the first round, a team they beat 6-1 in the middle of September. Five different Owls scored in that contest, led by sophomore Lillie Wessel’s two goals and an assist.

Assuming an Owls’ victory, they would play the winner of Floyd Central and New Albany in the semifinal. New Albany clipped the Owls, 1-0, while the Highlanders played to a scoreless draw.

In Class A sectional 46 at Trinity Lutheran, the Cougars will battle Lanesville in the sectional opener. It’s a good chance for the Cougars to advance to the next round against an Eagles team that has surrendered 21 goals combined in its last three contests.

A win would set them up for a rematch with Austin.

The Trinity Lutheran girls soccer team will head to Providence for a clash with the Eagles in the second game of the Providence sectional.

The Cougars blitzed Austin, 7-0, last Friday night and, with a repeat performance, would vault into the sectional championship game.

They would face the winner of game one or Christian Academy of Indiana.

Start times for games will be announced at a later time.
