John Chester Shipley, 65, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019, at home surrounded by his family. John was born to the late Chester and Minnie (Day) Shipley.

On November 8, 1985, he married Mary Pummill in Seymour, IN. He worked at Franklin Salvage for many years. He enjoyed bowling and watching Nascar. John enjoyed watching sports, like IU basketball and the LA Dodgers. He enjoyed spending time with his children and his grandchildren, who always put a smile on his face.

He is survived by his wife; children, John C. (Rhonda) Shipley II, Shirley (Danny) Fleetwood, Christina (Mike) Stewart, Michael (Stacy) Shipley; 17 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 1 great great child. He is also survived by his sisters, Penny Chasteen and Debra Loyo, and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carolyn Sue Edwards, and brother Donnie Shipley.

Funeral service will be at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Steve Muster officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour, Indiana.

Friends and family may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m., and Thursday after 9 a.m. until time of service.
