The Jackson County Public Library board of trustees approved the 2020 budget during its regular meeting Monday at library in Seymour.

The library’s 2020 operating fund budget is $2,539,864. This year’s budget also was $2,453,976 and a certified tax rate of 0.0901 cents per $100 assessed valuation.

During the regular meeting, the board approved staff changes and an after-hours lock-in for grades 3 through 5 on Jan. 24.

Board members also received self-evaluation and office/committee interest forms to turn in to Director Julia Aker and Tammy Koerner, chairwoman of the nominating committee, by Oct. 21.

Youth services assistant Jill Willey gave a report about teen programs. She had eight to 10 middle and high school students attend weekly STEM programs throughout the summer. The Teen Advisory Group that used to meet monthly is now meeting as needed. Willey also is participating in Leadership Jackson County this year.

The board’s next meeting is at 5 p.m. Oct. 21 at the library, 303 W. Second St., Seymour.
