The American Sewing Guild neighborhood group meets from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on the first Saturday of the month at Bartholomew County REMC, 169 Deaver Road, Columbus.
Each monthly meeting focuses on learning a new sewing or creative skill or group sewing on philanthropic sewing projects.
The Oct. 5 meeting will feature a PowerPoint presentation by Mary Beth Simms on the art and symbolism of Aboriginal fabric from M and S Textiles. She also will bring fabric for purchase.
A Columbus native, Simms lives in Brown County. She earned a degree in studio art with a concentration in fibers from St. Mary-of-the Woods College, and she is the owner of The Yellow Door Quilt Store in Nashville.
