Put on your neon shirt and tight-rolled jeans and sport big hair. It’s time to flash back to the 1980s.

The Breakfast Club, a Chicago, Illinois-based ’80s tribute band, will take people back to the decade that produced a lot of hit songs that are still heard today.

Thursday’s show will close out the seventh season of Seymour CityJam. Food and drinks will be available for purchase starting at 6 p.m., and sponsors of Seymour Main Street’s summer concert series will have tents set up with information, giveaways and an opportunity to win prizes.

The sponsors are JCB, Voss and Sons Funeral Service and The Tribune in partnership with Schneck Medical Center and CPR Cell Phone Repair.

The band will perform from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the JCB Pavilion at Crossroads Community Park in the 100 block of East Second Street in downtown Seymour.

As a bonus for the last show of the season, two $50 gift cards will be given for the best ’80s outfit.

On its website, The Breakfast Club is described as "a high-energy rock dance ’80s tribute band whose every song is a hit that brings the house down with spontaneous, exuberant ‘I know this song!’ singalongs."

Steve Ballog, a performer and manager of the four-member group, said this will be the band’s first time playing in Seymour.

He said those attending the show can expect to hear "awesome ’80s music."

"We all love the ’80s," he said. "Not sure exactly how many (songs are in the band’s catalog), but we do everything from the ’80s."

The Breakfast Club formed 12 years in Chicago.

Ballog said the group stays busy performing.

"Last week, we were in five states and performed at eight events," he said.

For anyone attending the shows, he said he wants them to feel happiness during and after the concert.

As for what he likes about being a part of the band, he said, "Playing music we love and meeting nice people."
