Mr. Michael “Mike” Tech Jordan, 75, of Seymour passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Schneck Medical Center. He was born in Seymour to the late Kes and Betty Jordan.

Funeral services will be held at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Monday, September 9 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael Riggins officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery with full military honors provided by Military Department of Indiana Ceremonial Unit.

Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service Sunday from 1-5 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Mike was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon and Elder. On November 15, 1968, he married Linda Butler; she survives. Mike retired after 40 years of service from the Indiana National Guard. Mike received the “Sagamore of the Wabash” award, given to those who have rendered distinguished service to the state, from Governors Orr, Bayh, and Kernan. He served on the state Water Pollution Control Board for 15 years, 12 of those years as Chairman. A former employee of Fidelity Federal and Home Federal, Mike was owner of Jordan Appraisal Group, providing residential appraisals for local lenders. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Mike served the City of Seymour as District 5 Councilman for 32 years, President of the Common Council for 20 years and was the only President of the Seymour Redevelopment Commission. In addition, he served on numerous boards throughout our community including Works & Plan Commission, Freeman Army Airfield Museum Board, Jackson County Chapter of the American Red Cross and Girls, Inc. He was also a member of American Legion, Seymour Elks Lodge and the Columbia Club. Mayor Craig Luedeman proudly proclaimed December 12, 2011 as Michael T. Jordan Day for his many years of service to his family, Seymour, state of Indiana and the nation.

Mike is survived by his wife, Linda Butler Jordan; sons, Joel married to Rachele and Brent married to Rev. Shellie Riggs; grandchildren, Gabriel and Casey Jordan, Blake and Allison Hopkins; sister, Jane married to Mike Graham; sister-in-law, Susie married to Terry Shirley; brother-in-law, Larry Butler; nieces, Lisa (Jeff) Richart, Amy Spence, Bridget Shirley, Kelly Weisenberger, Kristin (Butler) Drake; nephews, Chris Jordan, Josh Graham, Justin Graham, Baron Shirley as well as several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ted Jordan.

Memorials may be written to Don and Dana Meyers Cancer Center, Freeman Field Airfield Museum or First Presbyterian Youth, in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
