Woman arrested on auto theft, meth charges

A traffic stop in southeastern Jackson County left a 49-year-old Seymour woman facing theft and methamphetamine charges, police report.

Christina Lynn Pedigo was arrested on preliminary Level 6 felony charges of theft and possession of methamphetamine following an incident Tuesday.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Department Officer Mitch Ray conducted a traffic stop on a black 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Pedigo around 8 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of county roads 700E and 600S.

Ray said the vehicle was reported stolen in Scott County.

Detective Ben Rudolph, who was assisting at the scene, noticed Pedigo attempting to place something under the front seat of Ray’s vehicle after she was taken into custody, according to a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.

Police tested the material, and it field tested positive for methamphetamine, Ray said.

Pedigo was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 9:01 a.m. without bond pending her initial hearing.

A Level 6 felony is punishable between six months and two and a half years if convicted.
