Flood warning issued for Jackson County

The East Fork White River is expected to reach nearly five feet above flood stage Tuesday, prompting the National Weather Service in Indianapolis to issue a river flood warning.

The weather service said in its warning that the East Fork White River at Seymour will reach 15.8 feet. Flood stage is 12 feet.

The warning is from Monday afternoon until further notice.

History has shown that when the River reaches that level, many of the county’s roadways after affected.

Those include SR 235 east of Medora to Covered Bridge, County Road 300N east of Honeytown to Shieldstown; County Road 225W between County Road 300N and Slab Road River Bridge, County Road 410W from U.S. 50 to Vallonia, Newford Road, west from Vehslage Road to the 5000 block east, County Road 400E from Newford Road south to Shieldstown, County Road 150E from County Road 3000N to County Road 4000N, County Road 100E from County Road 3000N to County Road 4000N and County Road 700E by County Road 800N.
