STEPS Dance Center recently conducted its year-end showcase at Seymour High School’s Earl D. Prout Auditorium.

Plus, all-star travel teams wrapped up their season with an awards banquet at the downtown Seymour studio.

“Showcase weekend is one of my favorite weekends of the season,” said Sarah Arnold, owner of STEPS Dance Center. “I love seeing performances, jitters, smiles and laughter. It’s a whole process. I hope the process is just as much fun and exciting as it is for me, instructors and families as we see it all come together.”

The all-star teams are created with residents of Jackson and Jennings counties. They compete four or five times per season, are involved in the Seymour Oktoberfest parade and perform during halftime at a varsity boys basketball game at Seymour High School. Also, this past year, they were performance entertainment for the Harlem Globetrotters, Cincinnati Reds and Indiana Pacers.

“All-star teams are designed for sisterhood, positivity, community and growth in what it means to be a team,” Arnold said.

During the upcoming season, the youth and junior teams will be based at the Seymour location, 114 W. Second St. The placement clinic for ages 8 to 15 will be from 6 to 8 p.m. June 14.

The summer session begins June 3, and Seymour students will perform during the Jackson County Fair at the end of July.

Arnold and Whitney Eder will be the coaches.

“Get registered,” Arnold said. “We are so excited for the summer session and team placements for the new season.”
