Four rescued after boat capsizes in the river

Four Seymour residents were rescued Saturday after their jonboat capsized in the East Fork White River at Rockford, police said.

Jason Anderson, 41, Sarah Anderson, 44, Beth Linneneier, 54, and Ron Taylor, 51, were each rescued after the incident reported to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department at 4:25 p.m.

Police were called to the scene after a witness reported she saw the boat go over the dam.

Sheriff Rick Meyer said two people were able to swim to safety, but two others had to be rescued.

He said Reserve Officer Eric Browalski pulled one person to safety, and Seymour Officer Derrick Shelley located and pulled the other from the water.

Each declined treatment, Meyer said. He said the incident remains under investigation.

Conservation officers assisted at the scene.
