SeymourEats.com website rolls out

Stay local. Dine local.

That’s the thought behind the new website SeymourEats.com, which recently was launched by The Tribune.

On the website, visitors can view logos of restaurants in Seymour. They can click on the logo to view the restaurant’s hours, address, phone number and description. They also can click on a tab to view a menu or website.

Pizza Palace, Buffet China, Rails Craft Brew and Eatery, El Nopal, Chillicen, Bullwinkle’s Family Restaurant, Larrison’s Diner and Poplar Street Restaurant are on the website now.

On the main page, people also can click on American, Chinese, Italian, Mexican, Specialty and Steak and Seafood tabs to show restaurants that meet those descriptions.

The other option is to click on “Let’s Eat!” to have a restaurant featured on the page randomly chosen for you. That’s a good option for people who can’t decide where to eat.

Tracie Lane, advertising director for The Tribune and The Jackson County Banner, would like to see other Seymour restaurants come on board.

“If you have a menu or provide a food service, we would love to have you,” she said.

The website also will be featured on tribtown.com above the Community Connectons section on the home page. If you are online reading, you can just click the link and access the website from there.

In addition to online, The Tribune is doing print and social media advertising for SeymourEats.com. The Greater Seymour Chamber of Commerce, Seymour Main Street and Jackson County Visitor Center also are helping to promote it through their social media sites.

“It’s actually kind of a mini media package for the restaurants that would like to participate because we are marketing the product that they are participating in,” Lane said. “There is also open space at the bottom of the website if a business would like to sponsor the site.”

The purpose of the website is to bring people’s choices together in one place and stay local. Lane said she would love to have businesses use this as a resource when they have meetings or businesspeople in from out of town as a way to decide where to eat.

“I hope it brings the community together to try out different restaurants,” Lane said. “Our thought is when people think about on a Friday night, ‘Where do you want to go eat?’ instead of thinking of places out of town, stay local and dine local, pull up the website and pick or let us pick for you.”
