Cherie Lynn Dowdell, age 67, of Medora, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at the Seymour Crossing.

Cherie was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Medora. She retired as a paramedic and was known as “Trauma Momma”.

Cherie was a proud caring and passionate person. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved spending time outdoors working with her flowers. She also loved her animals.

Born on February 25, 1952, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Perry and Bonnie Umphress Hansome Duffy.

Her father preceded her in death in 1969 and her mother survives in Norman. Her loving step-father, Darrel R. Duffy, also preceded her in death on August 3, 2018.

On October 25, 1997, in Nashville, she married John Michael Dowdell and he preceded her in death on January 15, 2010.

Survivors also include two daughters: Jamie (Whittredge) Tincher of Medora, and Jenny Villarreal of Columbus; two brothers: Bryan (Jean) Hansome of Norman, and Nicholas (Connie) Duffy of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Gail (Bruce) Browaski of Brownstown; three grandchildren: Matthew (fiance Tia) Whittredge of Columbus, Daniel Dwight Tincher of Medora, and Ashton Villarreal of Columbus; and one great-granddaughter, Emmy Lou of Columbus.

Funeral services for Cherie Lynn Dowdell will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Jack Belk officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Proctor Cemetery, Lawrence County.
