Antique farm machinery show celebrating 10th anniversary

The 10th annual Jackson County Antique Farm Machinery Show is May 9 through 11 at the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Brownstown.

The Jackson County Antique Machinery Association Inc. event will start at 9 a.m. daily with prayer and the playing of the national anthem.

The show will be celebrating Cummins Inc.’s 100th anniversary and feature Massey Harris, Massey Ferguson, Wallis, Ferguson tractors, engines, equipment and garden tractors.

Admission is $2 for adults and free for children 12 and under. There also will be free gate entrance May 9 for veterans. Golf carts will be available for a $5 fee with proof of insurance.

All three days, there will be displays of vintage equipment, antique tractors, hit and miss gas and diesel engines with live demonstrations, arts and crafts, blacksmith, basket weaving, garden and tractor pulls, kids pedal pull and barrel train, toy show, swap meet and flea market and an open cruise-in for antique cars and trucks.

On May 9, there will be a tractor drive at 10 a.m. and live demonstrations throughout the day.

A silent auction will be from 1 to 4 p.m. May 10. Garden tractor pulls begin at 6 p.m. in the grandstands sponsored by the Southern Indiana Garden Tractor Pullers Association. Free ham and beans will be served at 6:30 p.m. with music provided by James White and Deer Creek at 7 p.m.

On May 11, there will be tractor games (10 a.m.), a pedal tractor pull for children (11 a.m.), an antique tractor pull sponsored by Jackson County Antique Machinery Association Inc. (noon), a skillet toss (1 p.m.), a wrench throw (1:30 p.m.) and tractor and garden tractor parades (5 p.m.).

A variety of food will be available from the Carr Township Conservation Club and others, and Amish homemade ice cream and fruit cobblers also will be available.

The show is sponsored by the Jackson County Antique Machinery Association Inc. and the Jackson County Visitor Center.
