No injuries were reported when an SUV crashed into a home Tuesday afternoon on the city’s west side.

Police were called to the scene of a property damage wreck at 1:23 p.m. at 505 Beech Street.

John Hopkins, 57, was asleep inside the home at the time, but was not injured.

Sgt. Mike Cooper said Brenda Carmack, 63, of Medora told police she stopped at a stop sign at Beech and Oak streets. She proceeded through the two-way stop when another vehicle driving on Oak Street went to turn south on Beech Street, police said.

Carmack attempted to avoid a collision and turned left, Cooper said. Instead of applying the brake, she hit the accelerator and went through the yard of the residence and hit it, he said.

The home, owned by Dan Brock, sustained damage to an exterior wall, ceiling and entrance.

Cooper said Carmack was not using a cellphone at the time of the wreck.
