Seven local residents have earned a degree from Western Governors University.

Local graduates, their hometowns and degrees were:

• Chastity Johnson of Brownstown, master of science in nursing (leadership and management)
• Chelsea Burrell of Seymour, bachelor of science in business (human resource management)
• Christine O’Brien of Seymour, bachelor of science in business management
• Megan Hoffman of Seymour, master of business administration
• Angela Wolfla of North Vernon, master of science in nursing (leadership and management)
• Shane Hodge of North Vernon, bachelor of science in business management
• Desiree Lawburgh of Scipio, bachelor of science in nursing

The online nonprofit university conducted commencement ceremonies last year in the fall and earlier this year in Austin, Texas, Washington, D.C., Indianapolis and Orlando, Florida, to celebrate the recent graduation of nearly 22,000 students from across the country.
