Immanuel Guild meets at Seymour church

The Immanuel Lutheran Guild’s regular meeting was April 2 in the fellowship hall of the Seymour church with Vice President Marie Harmon presiding.

The Rev. Philip Bloch led the group in singing "In the Cross of Christ I Glory." He presented the topic "Redeeming Holy Days from Pagan Lies — Easter." He explained the Christian origin of the word Easter, which means the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the egg, symbolizing Christ’s rending of the tomb, and the rabbit, which refers to new life.

The business meeting followed. Birthdays for April were acknowledged, and nursing home visitations for March and April were reviewed.

Tables were decorated with an Easter theme, and a dessert was served. Hostesses for the evening were chairwomen Nancy Terkhorn, Betty Chastain, Karen Habernicht and Carla Keeney.

Harmon closed with the devotion "What Shall I Do" and concluded with prayer.

The spring arty will be at 6:30 p.m. May 7 at the church. Members are asked to bring a dish to share.
