Mr. Orville Kendall “O.K.” Fleetwood, 93, of Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Lutheran Community Home. He was born in Uniontown, Indiana to Arthur and Martha Fleetwood. He attended Crothersville High School, class of 1944. He served in World War II Army from April 1944 to April 1946 in the European Theatre. He married Alice Murphy on November 16, 1946. A graduate of Seymour Business College in 1950, he also served as Secretary of the Seymour Board of Education from 1953-1956.

“OK” began his career driving a dump truck first out of Camp Atterbury, then at L.P. Cavett and as a supervisor at D&J Excavating. He then started his own full time paving business in 1968, which he reorganized as Orville K. Fleetwood Asphalt, Inc in 1980. He later began a second asphalt maintenance company called The Asphalt Company, Inc. In addition to his construction businesses, he built homes and started renting family residences, apartment buildings and storage units in the area under Fleetwood Rentals. Also, following his passion, he opened a used car lot in Brownstown, OKSC, Inc., known as OK’s Cars.

OK was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and New Hope Church of the Brethren. He adored his family and loved being with them and playing with the grands. He also loved having coffee and breakfast at his favorite diner with family and friends. His hobbies included laying asphalt, and collecting cars and rocks. He was known for his abounding energy and kind hearted generosity. OK sponsored numerous sports teams and race cars over the years and never stopped helping those in need.

Orville was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice Fleetwood; brothers, Clif, Verl and Jim; and sisters, Amie Lizenby, Sarah Carlock, Inez Greathouse and Irma Galloway.

He is survived by his children; daughters, Sara (Sam) Abbott and Pam (Ron) Spencer and sons, Curt (Kim) Fleetwood and Scott (Karyn) Fleetwood; granddaughters, Marie Abbott, Brooke Fleetwood (John Stern), Stephanie (Brett) Arthur, Mikayla (Merrik) Faulkner, Kelly Fleetwood, Karen (Chad) Browning, Dana (Bill) Nowland, Allyson Fleetwood, Shelby Fleetwood and grandsons, Samuel (Andrea) Abbott, Jason Spencer, Ben (Nicole) Spencer and Alex Fleetwood; great-grandchildren, Kendall Garrison, Samantha Garrison, Jackson Garrison, Danika Browning, Mattie Nowland, Alice Nowland, Rosella Nowland, Ellie Spencer, Isaac Spencer, Brayden Crater, Hudson Stern, Harlow Stern, Nolan Arthur, Graham Arthur, Kinsley Hunt and two great-grandbabies due in the coming months; and brother, Norman (Carol) Fleetwood.

Funeral service will be conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service at Apostolic Tabernacle of Seymour on Monday, March 18 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Larry Arrowood officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Sunday from 2-7 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until time of service.
