GOODYEAR, ARIZONA

Seymour native Zack Brown saw more spring training action on the mound for the Milwaukee Brewers Thursday.

At Goodyear Ballpark, Brown pitched the fourth and fifth innings against the Cincinnati Reds.

The Brewers trailed 4-1 when Brown entered the game.

In the fourth, the Reds’ Tucker Barnhart grounded out before Scooter Gennett doubled on a fly ball to right field. Joey Votto then reached on a fielding error by Brewers first baseman Jesus Aguilar before Matt Kemp doubled to score a pair of runs. Brown struck out Eugenio Suarez with the next at-bat, but Yasiel Puig answered with a home run to left field to push the Reds lead to 8-1.

Brown struck out Jesse Winker to end the inning.

Aguilar had a 3 RBI double in the top of the fifth inning before Brown went back to work.

Brown took the Reds down in order in his final inning. Jose Siri flyed out, Jose Peraza grounded out and Barnhart struck out.

Brown’s final stat line read three hits, four runs (one earned), zero walks and three strikeouts in two innings of work.

The Brewer came back to win the game 10-8.

It was Brown’s second appearance for the Brewers in Arizona. The Brewers will play the Seattle Mariners today.

Chase, Fee, Jaynes earn postseason honors

The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association released its 2018-19 All-State honors on Wednesday.

Seymour seniors Ashton Chase and Makenna Fee were both named to the Large School All-State honorable mention list and Trinity Lutheran sophomore Sydney Jaynes received Small School All-State First Team honors.
