The Indiana School Boards Association conducted its first Statehouse Day at Embassy Suites Downtown Hotel in Indianapolis.

This half-day seminar is designed to help the legislative liaisons of school boards better understand the association’s 2019 legislative priorities.

Nancy Franke, a school board trustee and Region 10 liaison from Seymour Community Schools, attended.

Terry Spradlin, the association’s executive director, presented a briefing on the legislative session to date, along with presenting the association’s priority legislation.

Following his presentation, attendees were able to participate in a panel discussion with District 37 Sen. Rod Bray, R-Martinsville, District 87 Rep. Ed Delaney, D-Indianapolis, and District 91 Rep. Bob Behning, R-Indianapolis. Bray also is Senate president pro tempore.

Following a lunch discussion with their local legislators, attendees visited the Statehouse to view the presentation of Senate Concurrent Resolution 30, which congratulated the school board association on its 70th anniversary.

Attendees also met with their local legislators.
