Toastmasters to compete in local speech contest Monday

The Seymour Toastmasters Club will have its first speech contest at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 504 N. Walnut St., Seymour.

The club is inviting the public to attend to help give speakers the experience of delivering a speech in front of a larger audience.

The winner will advance to the next level of competition with the chance to make it to the international contest.

Toastmasters is an organization to help people improve their communication skills and become effective leaders.

Seymour Toastmasters is a diverse group with members from many different countries. The club meets weekly from noon to 1 p.m. Mondays at the Jackson County Public Library, 303 W. Second St., Seymour.

During meetings, members give speeches and get insightful feedback from other members, guiding people to achieve their goals in a supportive atmosphere.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the club or becoming a member can attend a meeting.
