Seymour girls senior diver Brett Kleber just completed her first year of diving, and it turned out pretty successful.

In Tuesday’s diving regional, some of the best divers in the state were on display and Kleber finished in 19th completing only in eight of the 11 rounds with a score 159.80.

Kleber, who also participates on the Owls’ gymnastics team, said she wanted to try diving because it was something new.

“It’s very different (than gymnastics),” Kleber said. “I started out with just two dives and then I ended up with learning 11. It’s was very different but it was a lot of fun.”

Seymour diving coach Tara Sutherland was proud of Kleber.

“I think Brett Kleber is awesome,” Sutherland said. “She’s the work ethics that you want out of any kid. She’s very coachable, and she’s exactly who you want. I wish I could have had her three more years. It’s an awesome experience for her, even though it’s her senior year that she was able to come and experience this. We were able to enjoy this without avny pressure. It was a good way for her to network with other people.”
