Mary Ruth Bullock, age 90, of Brownstown, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Bullock was a member of Brownstown Christian Church, where she served on various church committees, and was also a member of Golden Wheels. She was employed at the Holiday Inn in Columbus, and spent the later part of her life as a homemaker.

Ruth loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an “encourager”, as she loved spending time with people and visiting shut-ins. Ruth enjoyed cooking and baking pies, playing cards and games, and traveling. She loved music in general, and especially loved playing the piano. Ruth was also a sketch artist.

Born on July 15, 1928, in Louisville, she was the daughter of Arvin and Pearl Pilcher Baker, both of whom preceded her in death. On December 27, 1945, in Louisville, she married Edward Mulberry. She later married Earnie Bullock and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Robert Eugene (Barbara Bernhard) Mulberry of Indianapolis; three daughters: Ruth Anne Hehman of Columbus, Teresa Lynn (Tom) Dunbar of Brownstown, and Pamela Mulberry (Brian) Humphrey of Princeton, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren: Ken (Amber) Richardson, Kelly (Matt) Saylor, Bob (Marcy) Greger, Jason (Heather) Greger, Eric (Liz) Hehman, Angela (Jayme) Sondag, Joshua (Kristen) Dunbar, Kyle (Jessica) Blevins, Lindsay (Brandon) Fish, Corey (Crystal) Blevins, Heather (Robbie) Moore, Elliot (Ashley) Humphrey, Blake (Bailee) Humphrey, Allison (Ryan) Forsman, and Hope Humphrey; 25 great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Chuck Greger.

She was also preceded in death by two daughters: Linda Sue Greger, and stillborn daughter, Patricia Fay Mulberry; son-in-law, Richard Hehman; five sisters: Oatie Mae Stanley, Eddie Mays, Dollie Mullins, Grace Baker, and Helen Sparrow; and four brothers: Claude Baker, Ernest Baker, Roland Baker, and Rollie Baker.

Funeral services for Mary Ruth Bullock will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Michael Hogg officiating. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.

Memorials may be given to Schneck Hospice or ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
